African Medical City (AMC) Ghana Advances into Structured Development Phase

African Medical City (AMC) has formally transitioned into its Structured Development Phase, marking a critical step in the evolution of the project from concept to institutionally grounded implementation readiness.

At this stage, AMC is focused on establishing the legal, technical, and governance foundations required to support a long-term, scalable healthcare infrastructure platform.

From Concept to Institutional Structuring

With its core vision and strategic framework now defined, the project is advancing through a disciplined development pathway that prioritizes:

  • Feasibility refinement and technical definition

  • Land structuring, documentation, and site readiness

  • Governance and institutional framework development

  • Regulatory and planning alignment

  • Early-stage implementation structuring

This phase reflects AMC’s commitment to sequenced, milestone-driven development, ensuring that each step is completed with clarity, control, and long-term sustainability in mind.

A Platform Approach to Healthcare Development

African Medical City is not being developed as a standalone facility, but as an integrated healthcare platform designed to combine:

  • Advanced clinical services

  • Medical education and workforce development

  • Research and innovation

  • Digital health systems

This platform approach is intended to strengthen healthcare capacity not only within Ghana, but across the wider West African region.

Strategic Alignment and Partnership Development

During the Structured Development Phase, AMC is selectively engaging strategic partners across:

  • Healthcare infrastructure and clinical systems

  • Digital health and technology

  • Legal, governance, and institutional structuring

  • Financial and investment advisory

These engagements are focused on building a credible, bankable, and institution-ready foundation for the project’s next phase.

Advisory Board Formation Underway

African Medical City (AMC) Ghana has initiated the formation of its advisory board, bringing together experienced professionals across healthcare, infrastructure, and strategic development.

This step is part of the project's structured approach to ensuring strong governance, expert guidance, and long-term sustainability.

The advisory board will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the initiative, supporting decision-making processes, and strengthening engagement with partners and stakeholders.

As the project progresses, additional members will be announced as part of AMC’s commitment to building a world-class healthcare ecosystem.
